I'm currently studying for my Intercultural Communications class test for tomorrow and I came across some interesting findings:
"Good-bye" (U.S) = "Come here" (Japan)
"Good Luck" (U.S.) = "Boyfriend" (Japan)
"Screw you" (U.S.) = "I don't believe you" (Uruguay)
"I'm angry" (Nepal) = "You are afraid" (Mexico)
"OK" (U.S.) = "Money" (Japan)
"OK" (U.S.) = "Sex" (Mexico) --Be careful with this one...
"OK" (U.S.) = "Homosexual" (Ethiopia)
"Killed/Dead" (U.S.) = "Lost a job" (Japan)
Just thought you guys might find it helpful when traveling to our neighboring countries. Although, I doubt anyone will go to Ethiopia sometime soon, but at least you'll know that "OK" means homosexual.
